About the Hospital
Auburn Regional Medical Center is a progressive acute-care facility and medical center that has been serving South King and North Pierce counties since 1921. We are a thriving community hospital, proud to offer the "high-tech" advantages of a big-city hospital and the personalized care of a hometown provider. The facility is licensed for 162 beds and is owned and operated by a subsidiary of Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS), a King of Prussia, PA-based company, that is one of the largest healthcare management companies in the nation. Our medical staff, representing nearly 30 specialties and subspecialties, is supported by advanced technology and a team of caring, highly respected professionals—all working together to lead the way to a healthier life for Auburn-area residents.

The hospital has achieved special certifications or designations for its Level III Trauma Center, Primary Stroke Center, Cancer Center, Level II Neonatal Nursery, Sleep Disorders Center and Acute Rehabilitation Unit. The hospital is accredited by The Joint Commission and licensed by the state of Washington.

Nearly 300 physicians are affiliated with the hospital, more than 140 of whom are on Active Medical Staff. Our nursing staff draws upon years of clinical experience to ensure quality care.

Our HIstory
Auburn General Hospital was built in 1921, a few years after construction of the Northern Pacific rail yards. The building was located on the site of an apple orchard. Built by Dr. Owen Taylor, who previously had owned a small hospital in Kent, and Dr. Martin Lacey, who had a special interest in pharmacy, the new hospital was designed to meet the needs of the Northern Pacific's 1,200 new employees and those of Auburn's coal mining and lumber families.
